James MacDonald (known as Jim) is a member of Dumbarton Curling Club (1815), which is a founder member of Dunbartonshire Tenth Province (1860).  Jim is also a member of Cardross Curling Club, also a member club of Dunbartonshire Tenth Province.

Curling History - Jim started curling in 2014 when he went along for a "Try Curling" session at Braehead Curling Rink after being inspired to try the sport watching David Murdoch win Silver and Eve Muihead win Bronze medals at the Sochi Olympics.

Jim joined the Braehead Virtual Curling Club, a club for new curlers with less than 3 years curling experience, at the start of the 2014/15 season.  A couple of months later Jim joined Dumbarton Curling Club, where he was appointed as Club Secretary in 2016, a position he still currently holds.  In 2017 Jim also joined Cardross Curling Club.

Jim qualified as a level 1 coach in 2018, and is frequently found at The Waterfront and Greenacres curling rinks during the season either playing or coaching.

Jim was elected President of Dunbartonshire Tenth Province in 2022.  After serving his year as President, he was elected as the Provinces Representative to Scottish Curlings Area Standing Committee, a 4 year appointment which expires at the end of the 2026/27 season.

Jim is also a member of the Royal Artillery Association (previously served with 207bty, (105th Regt) Royal Artillery), where he is currently the Glasgow Branch Standard Bearer.
